Unlike the other reviews on here i have had a positive experience so far with the Mahans. I have lived here for about 8 months and have not heard from them until yesterday for an inspection. The inspection was reasonable and brief. They are strict on rent policies and do not allow a grace period (anything after the first is late) but she is very up front with that and all requirements/expectations which to some people could come off as abrasive. But overall I've enjoyed my time here it's a nice property.
My husband and I have rented from the Mahans for the past two years. We have no complaints. They are not intrusive and responded promptly to any issues we had with the house. If you are a good renter and take care of the property, they are excellent landlords.
Bottom line is I left the unit in better condition than I received it. Reoccurring problems with the unit were never resolved. The garage floods weekly from the kitchen sink. The utilities were expensive due to inefficient units. The unit had mice, which longterm renters confirmed this was an annual occurance to be expected. Eww. Caroleanne was abrasive to speak with regarding the justification of any expenses from my deposit. Glad to be out.
I rented from Mahan realty and right after I had done our check in paperwork she told me I was not making them any room for them to make money. Every time I would inquire on a repair needed done to the property that was just things that happen to houses she made it sound like it was all my fault. My wife and I are very good renters we have always paid our rent on time. We didn't deserve this disrespect that Mahan had given us. She tends to be pretty harassing at times which kind of worried if my family made the right decision living in their property. Please I strongly recommend that no matter how nice the location or look of the property they are over please Do Not rent from this group.
Caroleanne Mahan used my 1000 deposit as money to make improvements the property.
I had a cleaning crew come through the unit after moving out, but prior to my final day in the unit. Caroleanne hired another redundant crew at my expense. Awesome. I was charged 220 for yard work. Not sure why, it's January with snow on the ground.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STEAR CLEAR!
My husband and I looked at a property they had for rent. It was decent and what we needed for us and our newborn baby. They walked us through it - they weren't the kindest but they weren't rude either. We decided we would submit the application. The woman asked us if we had cash to submit the application *RED FLAG* we did so we gave her the money. I emailed everything she asked for and didn't hear back for a week. My husband decided to call and left a voicemail, later the woman called back and said that they decided they would just sell the house instead... but never even thought about communicating that... moral of the story: STAY AWAY FROM THEM. PURE SCAM!
