This place is very pretentious and overly priced. Just because they keep their classical music going, they think this store is better than other stores. The same things you can buy at Walmart, or Wholefoods, the Fresh Market places it on embellished racks, making it look all fancy, but at twice the price. I walked into Fresh Market hungry, one evening at about 6 pm to get something from the deli bar, and I saw this employee who was spraying over the deli food. The spray cleaner was coming all over the glass w/the food below. The employee was either ignorant, and/or careless. Where was the superviso to ensure proper food handling and procedures? There was mo one around to keep an eye on proper procedures. Even though I was hungry, and was looking forwards to purchasing miscellaneous foods from the self service deli, I was completely turned off, and bought some fruit instead. The employee seemed completely oblivious to rhe fact, that spraying all purpose cleaner over the food, is a no no.
This is like Whole Foods, but better executed. It's a great source for fresh produce, eggs, and meats. You can also find countless bins of goodies and snacks to rack up your bill. It's not cheap but it's a fun treat! I plan to head back to pick up some Christmas gifts and snacks, and the pies looked amazing.
We make a point of visiting Fresh Market when we go to Tulsa. We love sampling the different coffees to find our favorite to take home that day. The deli offers items we never see in our small towns, the produce is super fresh and beautiful. Bakery goods are always delicious.
Where do I start? Let me just say this, any guest that I decide to bring along on my trip to this store gets a little surprise just as I do everytime I walk in here. For one, when you enter this market, it's almost as if you are entering another realm. Upon your first few steps through the second set of doors, it's as if all of the noise, and drama of life instantly blows off of you, like dust. And you suddenly get a sense of peace and calmness. Followed by the smell of fresh pine, or the beautiful seasonal plants they have on display not too far away from the entrance. The peacefully calming and elegant music that you hear just adds to the gracefulness of this masterpiece. I like to just come here, even if it's for one ingredient. It's almost like a place for 5 minutes of meditation you forget it's a market. With fresh, farm grown produce, and treats made straight from the bakery with it's own homemade, and unique tastes, down to the meals they prepare, already portioned and packaged, ready to heat and eat..this place is marvelous. Definitely not just any market.
