The exhibits are excellent. Family day was fun as they went out of their way to introduce children to art in different styles. I highly recommend the Gilcrease Museum.

My favorite museum for Native American and Westrrn art. A truly amazing place. I go evrry time I'm in Tulsa. Since only about 7% of the whole collection is on display at any one time. Also great gift shop that can make very high quality (16 color process) prints of some of the most remarkable paintings in the permanent collection. Ask for a guided tour.

We accidentally came the day before a free admission day and were comped because, "You're already here." We're from Kansas City and much preferred Gilcrease to the art museums there. Gilcrease has beautiful, historically significant artworks without the "art culture" posturing. It's not overwhelmingly large, yet offers plenty to see and the Kids room was excellent! My kids asked if we could come again before we had left!

I had a few hours in Tulsa with my mom before my flight left, so we made a trip to Gilcrease. This is a huge museum. We did the best we could, but didn't make it through every gallery. If I lived in Tulsa, I would become a member so that I could visit several times a year and spend as much tine as I wanted in each gallery. I can examine beaded pieces for days and not get bored. The museum is expansive and never feels cluttered. It's perfectly curated. Every collection stands alone, but is seamlessly connected to the other galleries. The grounds are beautiful too. We looked over the fall leaves from a bay window between galleries, which compelled us to stroll down to the pond and watch the turtles to end our visit. Lots of interesting items in the gift shop and free parking too. I'll make it a point to go back the next time in in Tulsa.

The volunteers and staff at Gilcrease Museum could not have been friendlier and more knowledgeable. They had a wonderful program (called A Horse of Course) free of charge for children ages 4-10. The students I teach in a summer program happen to be in that age range, and they had a blast. This is one of the many public outreach projects Gilcrease puts on throughout the year to serve the youth of Tulsa Metro. I'm grateful to them for their service.
