Let me tell you about one of the best kept secrets in Oklahoma! Every Tuesday evening there is a jazz jam from 6:00 until 8:00, followed by a blues jam from 8:00 until 10:00. The level of musicianship is high, the venue is friendly and casual, and the audience is like an extended family. Admission is FREE. There's not any better free entertainment to be had in the state of Oklahoma. There are informative exhibits in the museum, but jazz deserves more than just a museum of past glories, and the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame provides it in the form of this living, breathing, improvising exhibit. Real jazz was born and developed in jam sessions, and no museum of jazz could be complete without one. If you haven't been, I strongly encourage you to attend. Musicians and singers, come and join the jam! Lovers of music, come to enjoy the sounds! See you Tuesday night!
It is 1 in the morning and we have to find a new venue for my sister's wedding TODAY. DO NOT do business with Jason here. He does not care about one of the most important days of a woman's life. And he lied to our faces about how he handled the situation. We would have loved nothing more for the money we spent on a venue to go to the arts, but the blatant disregard for my sister and the complete lack of professionalism is DISGUSTING. This man was going to let us show up tomorrow before telling us he had double booked the venue. He even gave my sister a tour on WEDNESDAY discussing details like where to get ready. And he knew the wedding would not be happening there. His excuse was that he was too shocked that nobody had told her. He blamed it on everybody but himself, which makes him one of the poorest excuses for a leader that I have ever met. Beware of booking here.
I work with many businesses in the area and tell them, and consumers constantly to always leave reviews if you're over the moon pleased, or over the coals mad. This is obviously the second. The blatant disregard it takes to double book a wedding and then especially to not inform the wedding party is absolutely outrageous. I will never do business here, refer business here, and will forever sway anyone planning on doing so in a different direction.
Double booked a wedding and memorial event. Wedding was booked first and the wedding party was not notified they were being canceled until less than 24 hours before!! Absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable for an event venue. Shame on the director, Jason McIntosh!! Until there is new management, my family and friends will never do business here. I strongly discourage anyone from giving their hard earned money and confidence to this place for any type of event!! This is not the first time this exact same situation has happened at the OJHOF either -- don't let it happen to you!!!
We were married this spring at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, and I highly recommend the venue. Preferring an outdoor ceremony, Jason made sure we were all set up in front of the grand entrance – marking our union as the first wedding to ever be held outdoors at the venue. The house big band orchestra performed during the reception, and we enjoyed dancing for hours to wonderful music. Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is a Tulsa gem that does not receive the recognition it so greatly deserves. Jason went great strides to ensure our Big Day was nothing short of perfect.
