However, the bathroom was clean and the plumbing worked well. I therefore suspect that the holiday schedule had caused a housekeeping oversight, and that the state of the room was a one-time error. We did not complain to the front desk about the misstep in cleanliness.
The last two nights of our stay, the television was malfunctioning, and we did inform the front desk about this, for the benefit of the next guests.
THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE MISSING TV!!!!!!!!!!!
I do regret not complaining to the management while I was there but I was in a hurry and didn't feel like much would come of it.
1. Black mold in the shower - lots of it
2. No TV - just holes in the wall where it should have been (actually found it wrapped in a pillow case in the closet just before I checked out)
I would have given five stars...but it took four maybe five rooms to find one that was ok....the first one (as pictured) had no sheets, blankets, or pillows... Looked as if the air conditioner/heater was scrapped there was no TV... Second room looked as if someone was looking for something the sheets and blankets were thrown one mattress was flipped over sitting on the other bed that the mattress on that one was pushed to the side....I love the stay here honestly the people are nice and I love you don't have to pay extra money like most places (charge $50 plus dollars) so besides the room mess ups this was a nice place but wouldn't fully recommend for small children as what side of town its on
I must say that because of this stay, I am sworn off of any new Motel 6 locations - I will only stay at locations that I am familiar with and know that they care about me and the Motel 6 brand.
The room was comfortable enough, and check-in was a breeze. There were no hassles, and the staff was friendly and responsive. Overall, we felt welcome, and were nearly as pleased as usual with our experience.
3. Smoke detector removed from the wall and placed in the drawer
I don't mind saving a buck... but not at the expense of my health. I choose Motel 6 because I usually just need a clean bed and a shower while on the road. This stay was horrible and I will likely never stay at any Motel 6 location again - DONE. I was embarrassed for my son who I was traveling with because he thought I was just trying to be cheap. I served 25 years in the Army so I'm used to sleeping in less than optimal conditions. However, they payed me versus me paying them. List of reasons why you should continue down the road.
I took off one star because the room was not as clean as it should have been. The bedspread and carpet had quite a bit of hair, crumbs, & stains that would not have passed a cursory inspection.
UPDATE - as if everything above wasn’t bad enough, once I returned home I learned that there was an additional $150 dollar charge on my credit card. I called Motel 6 customer service...
Dirty and in dis-repair. First given a room that was unmade. Mattresses and Box Springs are old and stained. Had water dripping from the room above into our bathroom. I will not stay here again. This is probably the worst Motel 6 that I have ever been in. It gives the Chain a bad name. This one should be sold and unbranded.
6. Racial slurs written on the inside of the closet door.
4. Floor was filthy - I never took my socks off for fear of my life
5. Cigarette burns and unidentifiable stains on the bedspreads and curtains (yes, there were holes in the curtains)
It took three weeks but I finally convinced them that I did not take the TV. I even referred them to this post made prior to the $150 charge. Motel 6 did reverse the charge but it was painful.
Room was filthy. Blood stained shower curtain. Telephone in room but no cord to plug it in. Checked in on Saturday and dead battery in smoke detector. Had to remove myself so I didn't have to listen to it beep. Had to mute it every 4 hours to quiet it. Took 4 days to get a 9 volt battery. Do not disturb sign on door is useless. Housekeeping just barges in anyways. Pet friendly hotel but housekeeping afraid of dogs. Twice in less then a week they left my hotel room door wide open all night long. Would never go back again and advise others to stay far far away.
