Lemme just start off by saying if it’s a serious issue/emergency...go somewhere else. Took a family member to this er, drove 3 hours just to go here because we were told how good they were......first off this family member has a brain aneurysm and was experiencing excruciating pain in her head, neck, and shoulder. In triage the nurse only wrote shoulder pain even after having it explained twice that it’s not just the shoulder then we were there for 6 hours and never got seen. Yes I know ERs can be extremely busy and I know the most critical go first. I'm a nurse so I get it completely. I also know that there were TWO different times the ER was cleared out except for us and most that had once filled that room had been discharged. I also know that a person with a brain aneurysm that's having excruciating pain in the head, neck, and shoulder should be a top priority over someone who's sitting in a chair laughing and cutting up having a good ol time cause she sprain her ankle. I also look in triage and see several nurses, 2 in triage and 3 of the nurses working in the back are all in a room dancing and having a party. I am so disappointed and disgusted with St. John's. I will never tell someone they should go there and I will never bring another family member here. It was the worst hospital experience I've ever had. This ER was absolutely horrible. I'm only giving this one star because I can't submit this without it just to clarify.

Today was the first time I've had a mammagram at St. John's breast center, but not...my first mammagram. In the past I've had X-rays at womens center, and st. France's. I have never felt the pain I received today, the tech squeezed my breast so flat, I thought she did permanent damage. I told her she was hurting me, she said, "oh I'm sorry!" I was getting ready to go back to my dressing room, she said " I need one more X-ray". I told her NO! Left the center and will never return. I don't know her name, but she has very long red hair. I've had other X-rays that I felt some pressure, but not like the pain I experienced today.

The nurses deserve special admiration for their outstandingly caring, friendly, professional, efficient and very proactive performance. They work together as one great functioning team towards the patient. New nurses during shift change are introduced by the previous one and you never see an unknown face (except for some routine IV fluid changes). If they only so much as sense the idea of a doubt about anything in a patient, they ask questions or send the doctor of the respective field to put one's mind at ease - without being asked for it. All this and many more small friendly gestures add up to a very pleasant and comfortable athmosphere around the delivery of our baby.

I have seen many hospitals all around the world. There are medically great hospitals all over the globe but I have not seen this much enthusiasm in nursing staff anywhere else - neither in the US nor abroad.

Thank you very much!

Upon reviewing her triage assessment the next day, through their online tool, the wrote down "seems purposeful" for her condition. As if she was purposefully injuring her neck and unable to breathe by her own choice to obtain drugs. The other hospital diagnosed her medication caused dystonia within 20 minutes of being there. Gave her benadryl and cured her. I will NEVER return to this dump. I'd advise you do the same. None of the nurses care at all about any of the patients.

The service is very well organized. There is no need to investigate about what is happening now or what will happen next. Everybody seems to stop by and give information before we could even think about asking about it.

The medical staff is great. But one element here stands out and I feel the need to share that experience.

As a sidebar, during our 6 hour wait we watched an elderly woman with a broken ankle, unattended for hours as she was writhing in pain. They never assisted her. What a sad sad place.

Buyer beware!

Came in at 8:15 a.m. for a surgery that takes 1 hour... it is now 315 p.m. and still waiting on an anesthesiologist to sign my wife out. She has been out of surgery for 2.5 hours now. What a joke. You have to be them for an update. Rude staff, way too long wait time... Do not come here for anything, EVER. Do yourself a favor and go to Hillcrest, right down the street. What a terrible day. Thanks St. John's for making this a terrible experience.

This review is for the labour, delivery and newborn section based on our current experience during the delivery of our baby girl.

This is just an awful awful place to go. My wife was having a dystonic reaction to a medication she was given from this same hospital the night before. We sat there for 6 hours and never got seen. She was having trouble breathing and her neck was super extended backwards. I took her to a different hospital where she was taken into the back within 20 minutes!
